A new restaurant will soon open in Fairfax, called Songbird Asian Cafe and Bar located at 10940 Fairfax Boulevard Unit J, confirmed by its co-owner Angela Zhang.
“Songbird honors the Chinese American tradition. “Comfort, Celebration and Home” is our motto, as we know many have grown up with Chinese food. Our goal is to open sometime in September,” Zhang told What Now Washington DC.
“We want to be the neighborhood place where you will always be a second home for you. The food will be familiar with a focus on classic dishes that are done really well. We emphasize local fresh produce and high-quality ingredients that won’t leave you feeling heavy that many traditional Chinese American restaurants do. We also will include vegan and gluten-free options in many of our dishes as well.”
“As for the inspiration for décor, we look to a Mid-century chinoiserie aesthetic with classic colors of red, green, and gold. We hope you can come for the food and stay for crafted cocktails while the disco ball spins to eclectic tunes after dark,” Angela also added.
Songbird’s menu is described as respecting the past, as we look to the present and the future in their menu. From Chop Suey Mai Tai, the OG entrée drink, to original creations such as Jasmine Vesper, their take on the classic martini. Angela stated that patrons can look forward to the very best versions they will ever have of favorites like Kung Pao Chicken, Shrimp Lo Mein, and Hot & Sour Soup, or try something new with the restaurant’s signature takes on classic dishes like plant-based General Tso’s.
