A celebrated DMV-area chef is bringing his fresh take on fried chicken to a new location. Elias Taddesse, who is having quite a momentous 2025, is moving Doro Soul Food to the Atlantic Plumbing development later this year, reports the Washington Business Journal.

The fusion restaurant, which melds the flavors of American soul food with Ethiopian cuisine, will be opening in a 1,800 square foot space at 2108 Eighth Street NW. Doro Soul Food will be sharing the space with fellow Taddesse concept, Mélange. The building will have space to accommodate up to 80 guests, with a seating capacity of up to 62 customers indoors.

Doro’s new location will allow Taddesse and company to serve alcohol alongside the delicious cuisine, a change from its prior home at 1819 Seventh Street NW which Taddesse is enthusiastic about. He states: “One of the main advantages, which I didn’t have in prior places, now we have the ability to serve alcoholic beverages and drinks, and that’s going to be a huge advantage.”

A precise opening date is not currently available; however Taddesse intends to be ready to greet guests for dine-in over the next one-to-two months.

Paperwork filed with the Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration shows that the restaurant’s hours of operation will be Sunday through Thursday, 11 am to 10 pm, and Friday and Saturday from 11 am to 12 am.
