Ward 8 beer fans, get ready to bend an elbow at one of the DMV’s favorite breweries. Atlas Brew Works is opening a new location as part of the Bridge District mixed-use development, according to the Washington Business Journal.

Atlas will be tapping its kegs as part of The Douglas, a 757-unit building coming to 633 Howard Avenue SE. The brewery will have 24,260 square feet dedicated to it, alongside its frequent collaborator, Andy’s Pizza, which will be offering hot slices to hungry patrons.

A precise opening date is not yet available for Atlas’s newest location, however the brand anticipates an early 2025 debut.

Atlas, which has established itself as one of the most eco-friendly breweries in the business, is planning to utilize the space wisely. Co-founder and CEO Justin Cox explains both the allure and his ambitions for the location, stating: “What we really need is a larger, centralized production component, and that’s what the Bridge District is perfect for. This is a brand new neighborhood location. The views of the Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge are awesome, there’s a transportation options, and it just checks all those boxes.”

Cox is hoping that the space will allow Atlas to involve visitors in the beer-making process by inviting them to observe the brewing and canning of the libations. Additionally, the venue-Atlas’s largest to date-will feature a taproom and ample outdoor seating.
