According to a recent article from Wtop News, Bark Social will take over Barkhaus’s space as its fourth location, located at 529 E Howell Ave in Alexandria.

A representative of Bark Social and Barkhaus was not immediately available for commentary upon What Now DC’s request.

An article from ALX Now states, “Bark Social is a budding chain with three locations across Bethesda, Baltimore, and Philadelphia. Barkhaus will be converted to the fourth Bark Social, with more planned in Maryland and California.”

Washington Business Journal said that while Barkhaus will rebrand as Bark Social and gain some of that chain’s services, Barkhaus’ full kitchen will remain in place and possibly be added to other Bark Social locations. The change is planned to happen over time, the Washington Business Journal reported, rather than an abrupt overnight rebranding.”

Bark Social can be described as a trailblazer, stating to have pioneered the concept of a social club that celebrates the deep bond between dogs and their devoted owners. At the heart of this community lies a simple mission – to provide a haven where you can unwind, savor exceptional beverages, and turn every day into an unforgettable canine celebration.

Bark Social states that dog enthusiasts are a breed of their own, and Bark Social is where they truly belong. They proudly include themselves in this group. As advocates for our furry friends and their human companions, Bark Social has an unmatched passion for dogs that goes beyond words, according to the company website.

When it comes to Barkhaus, they describe themselves as more than just a dog bar. The service and relationships built each day make members more of a family and Barkhaus a home away from home. They pride themselves on the freshness of their food that is made to order from their onsite, scratch kitchen.
