Barracks Row get ready, there’s about to be a new donut in town. The Salty Donut has purchased the space that recently housed District Doughnut, according to local media outlet Capitol Hill Corner.

The Salty, as it is known by fans, has purchased the building at 749 8th Street, SE. A timeline for the switchover between the new donut kid on the block and District Doughnuts isn’t currently available; the news is still relatively new.

The Salty currently has its first DMV location well in the works in Fairfax County. An opening date is not yet announced for the sweet shop’s Virginia debut, however the company website promises it is “coming soon”.

The concept was founded by Amanda Pizarro and Andy Rodriguez in 2014. Fueled by a passion for community and delicious donuts, the Salty has expanded to include 14 brick and mortar locations across Florida, North Carolina, Texas, and Georgia.
