A new dawn is breaking soon for a small but mighty DMV-area bagel chain. BKD Bagels will be opening its fourth location-this one in Brambleton-in late summer, reports local media outlet The Burn.
Construction crews are busy turning the 23634 Strickland Drive storefront into the bakery’s newest home. BKD Bagels will be joining the Brambleton Corner Plaza, a bustling shopping center certain to attract considerable foot traffic.
Signage is up, which is certain to pique the curiosity and hunger of local foodies about the eatery’s opening date. While a precise date is not yet available, BKD intends to be up and running at some point in August.
BKD’s arrival in Ashburn will be the culmination of considerable time and planning. Ownership first announced their intentions for the location in February of 2024.
A June 23 social media post from BKD’s official Facebook page provides a little insight into the process, saying: “Brambleton signs are up. Been an absolute grinder of a process on this one with permits, etc. but I assure you – we are in motion. If you know this game, you know it’s super tough to project an opening date until you are very close to open… but as we sit today, we are aiming for August-something.”
The chain has been active since bursting onto the local scene in 2021. BKD now has 2 shops open in Leesburg-one in Fort Evans, the other on King Street- and another in Purcellville.
BKD’s menu invites visitors to create their dream sandwiches by selecting a bread, a protein, cheese, a spread, and an assortment of “fixin’s”. Customers contending with decision paralysis can choose to pick one of the house-recipe sandwiches. BKD also offers an ala carte selection of bagels and several varieties of cream cheese.
