A beloved Baltimore restaurant is stepping out of its comfort zone and into a new frontier. Ekiben, the lauded Asian fusion restaurant, is opening its fourth location-and its first outside of Baltimore-in Frederick in the coming days, reports the Baltimore Business Journal.

The James Beard semifinalist is bringing considerable acclaim with it to its new home at 500 North Market Street. Ekiben has been named one of Yelp’s Top 100 Restaurants in the U.S. for three consecutive years, making it an exciting addition to the Frederick dining scene.

The restaurant will have a dedicated 2,700 square feet of space to greet and serve customers.

Founded in 2014 by Ephrem Abebe, Steve Chu, and Nikhil Yesupriy, Ekiben combines Ethiopian and Asian cuisine into one unmissable dining experience. The concept currently has three locations open and in operation; one in Fells Point, one in Hampden, another in South Baltimore.

An opening timeline is not yet available for Ekiben’s first foray beyond Baltimore’s borders. A representative tells The Baltimore Sun “We’re still in early construction days. We won’t release an opening date until we’re much closer to finishing the project. We’re excited to share Ekiben with the Frederick community.”
