The wait is drawing to a close for Arlington pizza fanatics eager to sink their teeth into some of the DMV’s favorite pies. Andy’s Pizza has signage up and is gearing up to feed diners in its new Virginia Square location, reports local media outlet ARLNow.

The pizzeria-which earned first place recognition at the International Pizza Expo and Conference in 2021 in the “traditional” division-is taking over the space at 901 North Pollard Street that last housed Ballston Place Gourmet.

Andy’s initially intended to open in late March, however the pizza shop’s plans have been delayed. While a new date has not yet been projected for the restaurant’s opening, a note in the building’s window says it is coming “soon-ish”. Chris Cutler, the concept’s Director of Operations, says that a few inspections remain before the pizzeria can begin serving its signature slices.

The team behind Andy’s is ready and enthusiastic about bringing its celebrated cuisine to the neighborhood-an area with has shown great support for the pizzeria. Andy’s founder and owner Andy Brown tells What Now DC: “We are very excited to open Ballston, and the community has given us an incredible outpouring of excitement. ”

Launched in Tysons Corner in 2018, Andy’s Pizza currently has 10 locations spread across the DMV. It’s earned considerable local accolades, including recognition from publications such as Washington City Paper, Northern Virginia Magazine, and Washingtonian.
