Raising Cane’s is raising hopes among Chantilly area chicken enthusiasts. The poultry juggernaut is courting a new location in the neighborhood, reports local media outlet The Burn.

If all goes according to plan, Cane’s will be moving into the freestanding building at 14050 Thunderbolt Place that is presently occupied by a Bob Evans. The 6,000 square foot building is a part of the Dulles Suburban Center, and according to paperwork filed with Fairfax County, may come with a few complications.

Cane’s explains in the paperwork that it is hoping the county will revoke a standing edict, stating it seeks “to remove the Plan recommendation discouraging free-standing retail use in order to facilitate redevelopment of the site with a fast-food restaurant. The plan language has existed since 1993 and the establishment of the Dulles Suburban Center plan, however, County records indicate that the existing Bob Evans restaurant dates to 1997.”

Raising Cane’s potential Chantilly home will be discussed in a planning committee meeting in May, suggesting that it will likely be a bit of a wait before locals can sink their teeth into one of the chain’s signature items.

Raising Cane’s entered the dining market in 1996, but has been particularly active on the East Coast in recent years. The restaurant, which prides itself on a simple but effective menu of made-to-order chicken fingers or sandwiches alongside crinkle cut fries, coleslaw, and Texas Toast, has exploded to include 849 locations across the United States.
