Chi-Cha Lounge is set to reopen at 1214 U St. NW a few blocks away from its previous location.

A liquor license application has been filed for the restaurant and lounge in late September. An opening date hasn’t been announced yet.

Chi-Cha Lounge, a long-time hookah bar, was first launched in 1997 by restaurateur Mauricio Fraga-Rosenfeld, who is also the owner of Latin Concepts group and was behind the now-closed Peruvian restaurant El Secreto de Rosita at 1624 U St NW.

Chi-Cha Lounge and restaurant will serve Latin and East African food.

The new location will seat up to 110 guests in a space that has a total capacity of 133 people, according to the liquor license application.

What Now DC reached out to Fraga-Rosenfeld for additional information about Chi-Cha Lounge but hasn’t heard back.
