The finish line is in sight for Loudoun County residents eager to enjoy fast-casual Mexican cuisine. Construction has begun on the spot for South Riding’s first Chipotle restaurant, reports local media outlet The Burn.

Hungry future customers can’t smell the queso just yet; the work crew are in the preliminary stages of construction on the site at the intersection of Route 50 and Loudoun County Parkway. The property, which is currently surrounded by a chain link fence, is being cleared and workers will be installing any sewers and pipes necessary for the eatery. Once this phase is completed, Chipotle’s crew will begin erecting the restaurant.

Given the amount of work still needed to be done, it is impossible to estimate an opening timeline. However, this Chipotle has taken over two years to manifest visible and tangible progress, making this development notable and certain to inspire optimism and anticipation in the local community.
