Clyde’s Restaurant Group is reimagining D.C.’s oldest pub for a new generation. Ebbitt House, a modern reinvention of Old Ebbitt Grill, is setting out to become the DMV’s new favorite place to grab a drink or a bite when it opens in Reston next year, reports the Washington Business Journal.

The sprawling restaurant will occupy 12,000 square feet at 1860 Reston Row Plaza. Ebbitt House will be able to seat up to 300 customers in its indoor dining room and another 125 visitors on its outdoor patio-complete with its own bar. A precise opening date is not available yet, however Clyde’s Restaurant Group is anticipating being up and ready for customers by the first quarter of 2026.

While Ebbitt House will have a more contemporary atmosphere than its older sibling, its ethos will remain the same. Clyde Restaurant Group CFO Jeff Owens explains: “We’re continuing to embrace the mantra of our founder, who said it’s more fun to eat in a bar than it is to drink in a restaurant. It’s a place for everyone and every occasion and every time. It’s that kind of a special place that basically connects so many different groups and occasions.”

Ebbitt House will continue the tradition of serving great food in a warm environment established by Old Ebbitt Grill and is sure to enjoy similar longevity. As the website states, the restaurant will be: “perfect for savoring elevated American classics, unforgettable happy hours, and a show stopping oyster and raw bar program.”
