Equinox Restaurant is moving after nearly 25 years, according to an announcement on the eatery’s website.

Currently situated at 818 Connecticut Ave., Equinox’s new home is a block over at 900 19th Street NW. When it reopens in its new home, the restaurant will go by Equinox on 19th.

“The new location will feature a menu twice the size of the current menu, expanded bar offerings — featuring our Federal Fritters, a 35-seat bar, larger private event space, continued composting and zero waste, and a much larger outdoor patio,” according to the announcement.

It’s unclear why the restaurant is leaving its longtime home as Co-Owner Chef Todd Gray did not respond to multiple requests for comment, but Equinox on 19th is expected to open its new spot in mid-October 2023.

“Since 1999, five-time James Beard Award nominee Chef Todd Gray, and his wife Ellen Kassoff have been committed to serving their distinct interpretation of mid-Atlantic, regional, and seasonal cuisine,” according to the restaurant’s website. “Equinox’s hyper-local devotion to their community, their producers, their customers, and their employees have defined Equinox as one of DC’s most progressive fine dining establishments.”
