Fairfax seafood enthusiasts, put those fishing rods away. California Fish Grill is bringing “wild-caught and farm-raised seafood that is rated Best Choice or Good Alternative by the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch program or Eco-Certified by a third-party” to the region, reports Patch.
The California-based chain will be taking over the space at 11048 Main Street that previously housed Mod Pizza. Work is currently underway to transform the 3,030 square foot pizzeria into a seafood haven. According to a license issued by the City of Fairfax Office of Code Administration, California Fish Grill will feature a small patio.
An opening timeline is not presently available for the restaurant; however it bodes well that construction is underway.
California Fish Grill has been serving responsibly and sustainably sourced seafood since 1998. The chain has expanded to include 58 locations, fueled by delicious cuisine like Cajun shrimp tacos, ahi poke, and Atlantic salmon. The concept truly distinguishes itself through its practices, however. The website explains: “Our wild-caught fish are harvested through the least invasive means possible, to ensure the ecosystem is preserved and to avoid catching unwanted species. We insist on methods that limit untargeted bycatch.”
