According to a recent article from the Washington City Paper, Kiyomi Sushi by Uchi will open in The Square, located at 1850 K Street NW.

A representative of Kiyomi Sushi by Ushi was not immediately available for commentary upon What Now DC’s request.

Washington City Paper’s article states that Uchino aims to open the new concept sometime early next year.

According to The Square’s company website, they describe themselves as “bringing together 15+ chef-driven concepts with cuisine from around the globe in a dynamic new space beneath the glass atrium of International Square.”

“Imagined and created by two of DC’s most celebrated chefs — Richie Brandenburg and Rubén García — The Square promises to change the shape of contemporary food markets from the inside out, for guests and for chefs alike.”

“Just like DC’s food scene, The Square embodies collaboration. Behind the scenes, our partners’ chefs and line staff share kitchen space, butcher, and food buyer. Because our partners work together, operations run smoother, ingredients are higher quality, and menus are more inspired.”

The Square’s description of Kiyomi is stated as a classic sushi spot with creative touches like caviar, wagyu, and truffles. Chef Masaaki “Uchi” Uchino will exit the Nakazawa kitchen to roll out a more casual restaurant on his own.
