Alexandria residents will soon be able to support American farmers while enjoying a delicious, freshly made meal. Founding Farmers is bringing its unique restaurant experience to the Oakville Triangle, reports Patch.

The eatery will be occupying 9,200 square feet on the ground floor or a new building being erected at Swann Avenue and Richmond Highway. The ample space will provide room for seating up to 245 guests, as well as dining on an outdoor patio, and a full bar.

A representative for Founding Farmers spoke to What Now DC about opening a new location in Alexandria, stating “The DMV has been great to Founding Farmers over the years. Alexandria is an amazing neighborhood, and this site allows us to be a true neighborhood restaurant for lots of folks who know us from our other locations and lots of folks who’ve never dined with us before. Alexandria has an amazing history, an amazing present, and clearly an amazing future – we feel fortunate for this chance to become a long-term dining choice for those who live and work in the area.”

Founding Farmers follows a unique business model. An advisory board helps to craft each restaurant and create location specific experiences. Founding Farmers says “While we are not setting up a new advisory board, we will leverage our relationships with local investors, suppliers, and advisors who know the area well. Our goal when we open a restaurant is to be an authentic local place.”

Guests will be able to feel good about supporting their local community while enjoying superior cuisine. “Everyone is welcome and the food & drink are made from scratch. That’s the most important message. Then, of course, it is important for folks to know that the majority of our profit flows to our American family farmer owners/investors of the North Dakota Farmers Union. Going beyond ‘farm to table,’ we are a farmer-owned and mission-driven company at our core.”

Founding Farmers is dedicated to helping those who create the raw materials that feed America. “Part of our mission is to help American family farmers earn a larger share of the food dollar by unbundling the supply chain and bringing our guests closer to their food source & farmers. We’re as devoted to the farming supply chain as we are to the community and the wellness of our employees. We have a never-ending stream of initiatives to care for our people, including free mental health resources for all employees and their families. This results in a restaurant that truly allows everyone to feel welcome, because our staff and our product are paramount. Throughout all of our restaurants, you’ll find American classics & nostalgic flavors in a uniquely designed modern farmhouse environment.”

Founding Farmers currently has six locations. However, surprises still await guests who have dined at the company’s other restaurants. “All our restaurants differ, because we aren’t a chain, we’re a collection. At Founding Farmers Alexandria, we’ll be making a big statement with our in-house chocolates, enhancements to our cocktail program that will be dominated by Founding Spirits, our farmer-owned distillery, new desserts, and of course, some new menu items. All of this will be experienced by our guests in our one-of-a-kind designed interior, including fun whimsical art, comfy microclimates ranging from see and be seen and cozy private tables to special round elevated corner booths.”

Founding Farmers Alexandria will be submitting permits in the first half of February and construction will begin in late spring. The restaurant hopes to begin welcoming guests in early fall of 2024.
