Italian comfort food is on the menu for a vacant DMV storefront. Grazie Nonna, already a hit in DC, has filed permits to open a new location in Ballston, reports local media outlet ARLNow.
The full-service eatery from restaurateur Casey Patten will invite customers to sit down and enjoy a meal-the kind an Italian grandma would prepare for Sunday dinner-at 4075 Wilson Boulevard, Suite 120.
An opening timeline isn’t presently available for Grazie Nonna’s Ballston home, however a building permit filed with the city of Arlington offers a glimpse at the extent of the work needed to turn the storefront from an empty space into a welcoming restaurant: “Demolition of existing MEP elements and replacing in kind. Interior tenant fit out including new interior bar, dining area, restrooms and commercial kitchen.”
Given both the scope of the work and the fact that the plans are still awaiting approval, it seems probable the restaurant won’t be open until late this year or early next. What Now DC has reached out to ownership and will update readers as details become available.
The Arlington restaurant will be Grazie Nonna’s second location. The Italian concept has already made a strong impression in DC through its authentic and homey lunch, brunch, and dinner menus. Future Ballston regulars can look forward to choosing from a menu featuring a wide range of pizzas and pastas. The over-21 crowd will be able to enjoy a selection of spritzes, negronis, and house cocktails.
