Handcraft Doughnuts Frying into Union Market

DC donut fans, grab a big cup of coffee and get ready for a sweet new obsession. Handcraft Doughnuts, known for its small-batch, handmade treats, is opening in Union Market, reports popular Twitter feed @eat_dc.

The eatery, which has developed an ardent fan base across the District, will be moving into 1309 5th Street, NE, later this fall. A precise opening date is not currently available, however Handcraft Doughnuts has paused online ordering to facilitate focusing on completing the brick and mortar.

Handcraft Doughnuts has been feeding DC in Solid State Books, Thursdays through Sundays. The company’s website explains what makes its offerings so unique, stating: “We’re an artisanal doughnut shop that specializes in handmade brioche doughnuts in Washington D.C. All of our doughnuts are handmade daily using the finest and freshest ingredients which are locally sourced (when possible) – same goes for all of our glazes and garnishes. Each doughnut is an artful curation and we’re excited for you to try them all!”
