Union Station will soon be offering travelers a treat worth losing sleep over. Insomnia Cookies is preparing to open its fifth store in DC later this year.

The venerable bakery, which made a name for itself by sating the late night cravings of college students, will be sharing space with Bullfrog Bagels at 50 Massachusetts Avenue NE. An official timeline is not yet available for Insomnia’s Union Station opening; a representative for the company would only confirm to What Now DC that the storefront will be opening “in the coming months.” Additionally, Union Station’s website lists the establishment as simply “coming soon”.

Insomnia Cookies baked its first batch in Philadelphia in 2003. The store, co-founded by Seth Berkowitz and Jared Barnett during their tenure at UPenn, has expanded exponentially; what began as a humble project dedicated to delivering warm cookies directly to hungry customers has blown up to include over 265 stores, with no sign of stopping on the horizon.

Insomnia makes a wide variety of cookies, including vegan and gluten-free options. Additionally, the bakery offers cookie cakes and cookie sandwiches.
