A Philly-based chain with a sweet tooth and big expansion plans has set its sights on satisfying Montgomery County cookie cravings. Insomnia Cookies-known for serving its titular treats well into the night-is preparing to open a location in Silver Spring, reports local media outlet Source of the Spring.

The 8455 Fenton Street storefront will be Insomnia’s first Montgomery County location. The bakery is opening in a 1,044 square foot space in the Central Apartments building, where it will be neighbors with a relatively recently opened Dunkin.

Many DMV diners are already familiar with Insomnia Cookies and its signature delicious sweet treats. The chain currently has 9 stores open and operational in the area; it is unclear when precisely this tenth location will be opening, however the Insomnia website has it listed as one of 38 bakeries which are “coming soon” and the Silver Spring store is recruiting staff-a positive indicator for an opening in the not-too-distant future.

Fans have been losing sleep over Insomnia’s delectable treats since it was first launched by Seth Berkowitz-a University of Pennsylvania student at the time-in 2003. What began as a source of fuel for late night studying quickly became a Philadelphia favorite that eventually expanded well beyond the borders of its home state. Propelled by a menu featuring a wide range of traditional and deluxe cookies, brownies, and ice cream, Insomnia Cookies has spread to more than 300 global locations.
