An innovative Maryland-based coffee shop is preparing to put every other Arlington cafe on its toes. Kaldi’s Social House, which brings a fresh and creative approach to the classic coffee house, is opening a new location in the Potomac Yard later this year, reports local media outlet ARLNow.

The concept’s second Arlington space, located at 3639 South Glebe Road, will be able to accommodate 114 customers inside, with room for 35 more outside.

Kaldi’s Social House regional manager Sean Swartz explains that the new location is the culmination of a steady search for a third home. “We had been eyeing a few locations to open our third Kaldi’s Social House for some time now and we were graciously asked to come into the space located at 3639 S Glebe Road in National Landing.” he states, adding “After the first visit of the place we fell in love with the architecture of the building, the park where it solely stands, and the potential of location with offices and apartments surrounding the stand alone glass building.“

Kaldi’s has already made a strong impression at its Clarendon location, which the Kaldi’s crew intends to extend to the Potomac Yard. Swartz explains “With our success at Kaldi’s Arlington and the community we had built around there it seemed like a perfect opportunity to open another space in Northern Virginia, the timing could not have been better.”

Kaldi’s fuses the warmth and casual-cool of a cafe with delicious cuisine and the sort of impressive drink menu folks expect from their favorite neighborhood bar. Swartz describes the experience for future fans, saying: “When the average person thinks of a cafe, Starbucks tends to come to mind. At Kaldi’s we strive to go above and beyond what someone might consider a cafe. We offer an extensive breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even happy hour menus with our focus on health oriented and approachable foods. We also boast a wide variety of local Virginia craft beers, an excellent cocktail menu, & wine.”

The concept is adaptable, as suitable for a romantic night out as for breakfast on the run. Swartz states “The typical visit can be for a wide range of reasons, whether it be stopping by for a coffee and pastry in the morning, to having business meetings, or having a romantic evening with your partner over a glass of wine and shareables, we truly try to attract any and all kind of guests for a great experience. At our newest and latest location, our goal is to extend the hours of operation to put an emphasis on our happy hour, dinner, and late night drinks, while hosting live music and social events.”

Potomac Yard residents can look forward to stopping into Kaldi’s in early-to-mid August.
