An innovative restaurant chain is fusing technology and dining to bring a taste of Japan to the DMV region. Kura Revolving Sushi Bar will be opening a new location in Federal Plaza this summer, reports local media outlet The MOCO Show.
The unique concept will be occupying 3,325 square feet at 12266 Rockville Pike, splitting the building with a Torchy’s Tacos. The Federal Plaza restaurant will be the first Kura in Maryland and only the second in the DMV.
Kura Revolving Sushi Bar uses modern technology and robotics to provide guests with an unusual and distinctive dining experience. The restaurant is no-contact, delivering a wide variety of authentic, freshly prepared Japanese dishes to customers on conveyor belts. Patrons use tableside touchscreen tablets to select from the massive menu.
In addition to delicious cuisine, guests can enjoy Kur-B the KuraBot, who delivers food and drink to tables. The restaurant gives out prizes for every 15 meals the robot serves.
Kura Sushi developed its first restaurant in 1977. The brand has a massive presence across Japan, Taiwan, and the United States. The concept has more than 500 locations and continues to grow.
