Fairfax County foodies will soon have a new favorite sushi place to frequent. Kusshi Sushi, a burgeoning DC-area brand, will be opening in the Reston Town Center later this year, reports local media outlet The Burn.

The eatery will be taking over the 3,000 square foot building located at 11909 Democracy Drive. The space formerly housed Le Pain Quotidien and will be able to accommodate between 80 and 100 guests.

Kusshi Sushi owner Wesley Yao spoke with What Now DC about expanding the restaurant to Reston, stating “I was looking in the Herndon/Sterling area-I wanted to be in that area, and we really liked the Town Center. Initially we were looking at the new development where the hotel is going to be put, but we decided to go with something sooner rather than later.”

Yao is hoping to begin greeting guests in November. Kusshi is currently preparing to apply for permits, and Yao anticipates having the architectural drawings completed in a few weeks.

Kusshi’s intention is to become an active part of the community-not only will the sushi establishment provide a pleasant environment for customers to enjoy delicious sushi, Yao and his crew provide food to local schools, police, and fire departments.

Yao keeps Kusshi’s mission statement simple but admirable, saying “We’re just looking to serve some sushi boats. We want to serve good food to the community.”

Kusshi Sushi currently has two Virginia locations open, one in Arlington, the other in Leesburg, as well as three Maryland restaurants.
