Kusshi Sushi, destined to be one of 2026’s most exciting culinary openings, is making progress on a new Germantown location. The popular local chain is making progress towards opening its next Montgomery County storefront, reports local media outlet The MoCo Show.

Kusshi Sushi officially has “coming soon” signage up at its new 19833 Century Boulevard space. While this does not provide a definitive opening timeline, it does suggest the eatery is one step closer to greeting guests in the former home of Zane Japanese Eatery.

Founded in 2016, Kusshi Sushi has proven to be a formidable presence in the DMV dining scene. The small but powerful chain now has 8 locations open and operational across the region. The restaurant’s website offers this teaser as to what’s in store for Germantown foodies: “From our first location in downtown Bethesda originally named Hanaro, to numerous locations around the DC, Maryland, Virginia area, we specialize in modern Japanese cuisine. Come check out the area’s largest selection of sake and whisky in our lively atmosphere.”
