A DC favorite eatery is preparing to mount a comeback, with a new name and vision. The minds behind A Baked Joint and Baked & Wired, will be opening a new concept in the home of their shuttered restaurant La Betty, according to popular Twitter feed @eat_dc.

La Betty shut down its 420 K Street NW location in 2022. The concept, which prominently featured delicious, comfort food, has not currently offered an opening timeline for the relaunch. What Now DC has reached out to ownership for a comment, who have stated that they are working on a fresh idea which they are currently keeping under wraps. A name is not yet available.

The Velazquez family first founded La Betty in spring of 2019. The enterprising family of restaurateurs founded the eatery with a straight-forward objective. At the time of the restaurant’s launch, co-owner Tessa Velazquez told Eater DC   “A big important concept for us is a simple menu and a simple drink menu. Everyone makes so many decisions throughout their day. You don’t have to look through a beer menu that’s three pages long or a menu that’s five pages long or read ingredients you don’t understand.”
