Something new and delicious is preparing to welcome DMV diners later this fall. Stratford Garden, a concept spanning meals, cultures, and even species, is creeping up on the finish line and eying a November opening, reports local media outlet ARLNow.
Construction is moving steadily along at the restaurant’s 300 West Broad Street home. Locals may recognize that address as the former location of the Stratford Motor Lounge. A post on the establishment’s official Facebook page shows that Stratford Garden has working lights-a positive indicator for a not-too-distant debut. Owner Arash Tafakor has impressive plans for the space; alongside the restaurant, the facility will feature a cafe with grab-and-go options, coffee, and pastries, and an outdoor beer garden, with room and accommodations for dogs.
Tafakor explains: “We’re taking an abandoned space that was being unused, and really an eyesore, and really putting it to use for the community.”
And the community has quite a treat in store for it. Head chef Cameron Cousin plans to offer breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, and even-potentially-a raw bar. Tafakor and Cousin are finalizing the menu, but guests can anticipate pasta, sandwiches, and salads.
If that seems vague and far-reaching, then Tafakor has succeeded. He states: “We’re gonna have something for everybody. There’s a lot of different cultures around here, a lot of diversity, and I think our menu will show that. We’re not going to pigeonhole ourselves to, like, one type of food.”
Stratford Garden will be able to accommodate 300 visitors. The full-service bar will feature 16 beers on tap, with plenty of local brews and wines.
