Cool weather calls for an even cooler treat. Luckily for DMV residents, an esteemed national brand is bringing inarguably the coolest treat to Reston this winter. Helmed by franchisee Michael Nassif, Meadows Frozen Custard will be opening in the South Lakes Village Center before the year is out, reports local media outlet FFXNow.

The sweet shop’s precise opening date hinges partially on the intended December 1 installation of its custard machine in Meadows’ new 11130 South Lakes Drive home. Provided the installation goes according to plan, Nassif and his team will be ready to serve guests shortly thereafter. He states: “If that happens without any further delays, then we will have [a] soft open that week and grand opening Saturday, December 6.”

Nassif had originally hoped to have Meadows up and running by early summer, however opening dates are always moving targets, Reston residents will doubtlessly be thrilled to be able to enjoy the chain’s sweet treats before the year’s end.

Meadows spent more than ten years serving up frozen treats at One Loudoun, but owing to a proliferation of ice cream shops in the area, Nassif decided not to renew his lease and closed that storefront last December. He is looking forward to returning to his business in a new location, saying: “We are very excited to be part of the South Lakes community and give the people of South Reston an ice cream option without having to go far from their homes. Summer nights with our frozen treats and sitting on the new plaza overlooking Lake Thoreau hopefully will be a new summer tradition for local families.”
