A popular Silver Springs bakery is preparing to say “bonjour” to Bethesda diners with an appetite for delectable treats. Ooh La La Bakery will be bringing its impressive array of baked delicacies to the neighborhood later this year, reports The List: Are You On It?
The eatery, which prides itself on delicious, baked in-house treats, will be taking over the space at 4916 Cordell Avenue vacated by The Shop Salon. Co-owner Luis Velasco explains to What Now DC that he and his partners believe the local Bethesda population will be an enthusiastic audience for Ooh La La’s selection of cakes, pastries, and crepes.
He adds that the success of the Silver Spring shop empowered him and his partners to pursue this new location.
Ooh La La’s Bethesda home will follow the model established so successfully in Silver Spring. Velasco lets future regulars in on what to expect, describing the bakery as: “A place where you can come and have a really nice time, have a cup of coffee, different kinds of pastries, breakfast sandwiches, lunch… We do custom cakes and we have about 25 different kinds of cakes.”
Ooh La La sets itself apart from other, similar establishments by allowing customers to select from a wide range of options, without ever having to move to a second location. He states: “It’s a place where you can find everything in the same place-one bakery with everything under the same concept.”
Ooh La La makes all of its voluminous treats in house, ensuring patrons get the freshest and most delicious products available.
Bethesda foodies can look forward to savoring one of the bakery’s sweet concoctions this spring. Velasco says: “We’re aiming for May 1. Might be a little longer, might be a little sooner, but we’re aiming for May.”
