Alexandria Restaurant Partners is getting closer to bringing a hip, upscale dining experience to the District next year. Documents from the DC Alcoholic Beverage and Cannabis Administration show that the hospitality group has filed for a liquor license for its Palette 22 concept in Union Market.

The restaurant’s home at 400 Morse Street NE will provide seating for up to 175 customers inside with a supplemental 70 available spots for guests on a balcony or roof area. Additionally, Palette 22 will have an 80 seat streetery for patrons who prefer dining al fresco while enjoying the city. The filing also suggests that the eatery is planning on having an outdoor summer beer garden.

Palette 22 does not yet have an official opening date, but will likely debut in mid-to-early 2024. Once open, the restaurant will be open between 9 am and 2 am, Sundays through Saturdays.
The Union Market restaurant will be Palette 22’s second location, joining the original Shirlington eatery on Alexandria Restaurant Partners’ roster. ARP partner Dave Nicholas explains that the sibling establishments will not be identical, telling local media outlet ALX Now “ Our vision is ‘Palette 2.0’ – with the design, layout of the two-story space, and menu – the customer experience will be taken to the next level. We will be featuring interactive elements like a variety of cooking stations where patrons can see and watch the culinary ‘exhibition’. Here, we’re interested in redefining what an open kitchen can be.”
