The team behind the French wine bar, Primrose, will be coming together again to open a new Sicilian concept called Parachute Pizza inside Union Market.
Parachute Pizza will occupy the space where Red Apron’s food stall used to be located at 1309 5th Street, NE, according to Eater DC. An exact opening date hasn’t been announced yet, but the Washingtonian reported that it will open in fall 2023.
It is expected to serve artisanal craft pizza and seafood and seat up to 28 guests, according to a liquor license application that was filed in July. Erin Im, one of the co-owners, told What Now DC that Parachute Pizza is expected to be managed by her, Sebastian Zutant, and Oliver Friendly— the same trio running the French-inspired wine bar Primrose.
“Sicilian style checks all my boxes for quality pizza: crispy, olive-oily-yet-airy crust, a thicker tomato sauce, and a good layer of delicious mozzarella cheese,” Friendly told Eater DC.
Parachute Pizza is expected to offer a variety of pizza toppings made with classic and seasonal ingredients as well as a gluten-free option. The menu will also include oysters, salads, wines, garlic knots, and wines. Guests can dine in at the restaurant for lunch and dinner or use the eatery’s grab-and-go service.
