Peyton Sherwood, a seasoned vet of the DC hospitality scene, is bringing his talents to Capitol Hill next year. The entrepreneur will be joining Mott’s Market as a new vendor, reports local media outlet PoPville.

Sherwood will be using the space at 233 12th Street, SE, as both a market and a restaurant. The unnamed establishment will feature a menu that offers made-to-order sandwiches, pastries and baked goods, coffee, wine, and beer. Guests will be able to enjoy their meals on-site or to take them home to savor at their leisure. Sherwood and Mott’s Market are hoping to have his space opened and serving customers in June of 2024.

Sherwood will be bringing a wealth of hospitality knowledge with him to his new Mott’s home. The Washington-born restaurateur has experience from St. Vincent, KBC, and Solly’s Tavern. Additionally, Sherwood co-founded the Midlands Beer Garden. He will be working with Kerstin Mikalbrown and chef Sam Molavi to develop his Mott’s space.

Mott’s Market is an important piece of DC’s history. The beloved neighborhood institution was first established in 1916, and was recently sold to a group who is attempting to preserve the landmark. The partnership with Sherwood will help to drive up business and keep the market afloat.
