Fast-casual dining can feel like an endless cycle of burgers and chicken. While these dishes are appealing in their own right, sometimes foodies crave a bit more variety-something a little more unexpected. Maman Joon will be offering Gaithersburg precisely that when it brings its Persian cuisine to the area, according to local media outlet The MoCo Show.
Maman Joon-which translates to “dear mom”, a nod to its emphasis on family and warmth-will be setting up shop at 15780 Shady Grove Road. The restaurant will be joining the 270 Center, taking over the spot previously occupied by Pieology Pizzeria.
An opening date is not presently available for Maman Joon’s Gaithersburg location-the storefront is not yet listed on the concept’s website. The Fox Homes real estate site has Maman Joon listed as “opening this fall”, suggesting that locals do not have a long wait ahead of them.
The restaurant is certain to become a local favorite, bringing some welcome variety to the regional fast-casual scene. The website lets future regulars know what’s in store, saying: “We take pride in creating authentic Persian food that reflects our heritage. Our ingredients are always fresh, most of our spices come from Iran, and our menu is lovingly prepared using our treasured family recipes.”
