Filipino-American restaurant Purple Patch DC will be opening a new location in Mount Pleasant, a few blocks away from its current location.

Online platform Eat DC confirmed that restaurateur Patrice Cleary will open the new spot for the new eatery at 3213 Mt Pleasant St. NW, replacing the taco restaurant Taqueria Nacional.

Cleary told What Now DC that the second location is currently being renovated, but an opening date hasn’t been set yet. The new spot is expected to serve smash burgers, fries, and soft serve, among other food options.

The restaurateur said that she will soon announce more details about the new location.

Purple Patch serves brunch, dinner, desserts, and beverages. Purple Patch DC also serves dishes that range from Adobo fried potatoes and wraps, and grilled skewers, to Filipino sweet rolls with Pandan Butter and cheddar cheese.

Cleary, who moved to the U.S. when she was a baby with her Filipino mother and American father, has long developed a passion for cooking. She was inspired by her mother’s cooking and catering for big parties.

She also learned about sustainability and growing food from her Lebanese uncle, who had an eatery of his own.
