One of DC’s favorite breweries is bringing lagers and ales to Eckington next year. Right Proper Brewing is opening its third location in autumn of 2024, reports media outlet DCist.

The brewery will be occupying 5,500 square feet at 1625 Eckington Place NE. A press release provided to What Now DC states that the brewpub will provide seating for up to 180 customers. While the newest location will serve all of Right Proper’s beers, it will focus largely on lagers and ales, as well as allowing the brewery to try small batches of new libations before brewing large quantities.

Right Proper co-founder Thor Cheston explains the draw of the brewery’s new home, stating “The Eckington location will allow us to further our mission of being the beer for people who call Washington, DC, home.”

In addition to housing a brewery and a full kitchen, Right Proper will distinguish itself from other taprooms by serving guests a curated cheese selection at a designated cheese counter. The press release states that the interior will be decorated with murals.

Chef Jonatan Bohr will be managing the kitchen, overseeing the preparation of delicious snacks including fried chicken sandwiches, beer-battered cheese curds, and Thai chili brussels sprouts. The menu will adapt throughout the year to incorporate seasonal ingredients.

Right Proper Brewing opened its first location ten years ago, and currently has homes at 624 T Street NW and 920 Girard Street NE.

Right Proper’s Eckington space will allow the brewery to continue its goal of becoming an essential part of the DC fabric. Co-founder Leah Cheston states “We’ve been intentional with our growth since our founding, focusing on keeping our businesses sustainable, not growing for the sake of growing. Right Proper has always strived to be a part of and an amenity to the neighborhoods it is in. We look for neighborhoods with residents proud of their community and areas we can provide for and become a true partner with, and we believe we’ve found that in Eckington.”
