Fried chicken restaurant Roaming Rooster is slated to open a new location in Glenarden, Maryland.
This would be the 12th location for the family-owned business in the DC area, WTOP News reported. Roaming Rooster signed a lease for a space located at the open-air shopping center, Woodmore Towne Centre— which will also house other restaurants, including CAVA, Silver Diner, Copper Canyon, and Nando’s Peri Peri.
Roaming Rooster made the announcement on Facebook, but it has yet to reveal an opening date.
The fried chicken concept was first launched as a food truck in 2015 by owners and restaurateurs Biniam Habtemariam, Michael Habtemariam, and Hareg Mesfin. Three more food trucks opened shortly after the first location was launched, while the first brick-and-mortar restaurant opened in 2018.
“Our expansion to this prime location marks a significant milestone for us as we continue to bring our exceptional free-range chicken sandwiches to new communities,” co-owner Biniam Habtemariam told Citybiz. “We are thrilled to be joining Woodmore Towne Centre’s existing culinary powerhouses and excited to be a part of this dynamic center that combines diversity, convenience, and community. We look forward to serving our signature dishes to the Glenarden community.”
The menu offers a wide range of chicken options, including ones cooked in different styles such as the Nashville, Buffalo, and honey butter-style. Chicken is also offered in different heat levels from mild to “inferno.” There is a vegetarian option made of buttermilk-friend oyster mushroom sandwich.
