San Pancho Burritos, an all-day eatery, will open this fall in Maryland, bringing San Francisco-style burritos, and Sonoran-style flour tortillas to the residents of Takoma Park.
Restaurateurs David Perez and Carolina McCandless are behind the new fast-casual restaurant concept. McCandless told What Now DC that an exact opening date hasn’t been set yet, but Fall 2023 is still the goal.
She said that San Pancho’s layout will be similar to Cielo Rojo’s, but it will have a different decor.
San Pancho will open at 7056 Carroll Ave., replacing the Mexican cafe Cielo Rojo, which is also owned by Perez and McCandless. Meanwhile, Cielo Rojo will move and reopen in a nearby location, according to the Washingtonian.
The new restaurant’s menu will feature a breakfast of scrambled eggs and pinto beans, among other options, and chicken mole, salmon, and carnitas later in the day.
Guests can also expect to find frozen margaritas, sandwiches, vegan and vegetarian burritos, with add-ons such as cashew cream, charred habanero peppers, and arbol salsa.
“We wanted to stay in Takoma Park because the people here are very loyal,” co-owner Carolina McCandless previously told Washington City Paper. “They have been so good to us, especially during the pandemic.”
