A beloved chain with storefronts in Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania is getting closer to opening its next home and welcoming a whole new crop of diners. Sardi’s Peruvian Chicken is gearing up to bring its fan-favorite Peruvian rotisserie chicken to Rockville later this year, reports local media outlet MoCo Show.
In a thrilling sign for Montgomery County foodies eager to sink their teeth into Sardi’s fare, the restaurant will be holding a hiring event for its new 5290 Randolph Road location on November 4. Interested locals can stop in between 9 am and 4 pm for on-sight interviews for both front and back of house positions.
Sardi’s newest Montgomery County location is taking over the space occupied by Toosso Pakistani Kitchen until its closure in September of 2023. Owner Philip E. Sardelis generously set aside some time to speak to What Now DC about the opening, saying that he and his team are eying the first or second week of December.
Sardelis explains that Rockville has the right blend of residential and commercial real estate to make Sardi’s a success in the area. He states: “We have a huge name recognition in Montgomery County but we don’t have anything in that part of the county. You have a lot of traffic and a lot of housing right there. A lot of those industrial companies are around there and we do really well when there’s business and housing combined.”
The Rockville location comes hot on the heels of Sardi’s opening a New Carrollton storefront. The restaurant opened its doors to customers in October of this year.
Sardi’s is the passion project of cousins Phil E. Sardelis and Phil G. Sardelis. The duo founded the restaurant in Beltsville in 2008 with a commitment to serving authentic Peruvian cuisine in a genial and cozy environment. The menu-which is prepared with fresh and locally-sourced ingredients-features an array of meat, seafood, sandwiches, chicken and salads. As the website explains: “Sardi’s menu is inspired by the most vibrant flavors from Peru, as well as the rest of Latin and South America. Peruvian chicken, Latin specialties, charbroiled specialties, sides, and desserts are all crafted using local, fresh ingredients that are sure to leave your taste buds satisfied. We take pride in bringing authentic Peruvian flavor to you in every bite.”
