An innovative new concept is preparing to radically reinvent the Arlington Italian dining scene. Scolapasta, a restaurant that allows customers to cobble together their dream pasta on site, will be opening in Ballston later this year, reports local media outlet ARL Now.
The unique concept, which owner Burak Temel compares to “the Chipotle of Italian food”, will be taking over Pizza Roma’s old location at 4219 North Fairfax Drive. Scolapasta is planning to begin serving its distinctive cuisine this summer.
Ballston residents looking for a delicious burst of carbs will be able create their perfect dish by selecting from an array of freshly-made pastas, sauces, and toppings.
Temel believes Scolapasta’s unique model will be a big hit among Arlington foodies and casual diners alike. He states “It’s kind of a no brainer, when you think about it. Pasta is healthy. It’s budget friendly, and it could be a great late night food alternative to pizza for example, or some of the other local places in D.C., like Surfside.”
Signage has been erected at the site and Temel and the Scolapasta team are eying a June 1 grand opening.
