The countdown is on for Reston diners hungry for a new fast-casual experience. Construction is underway on a local Shake Shack, and it looks like it will be ready in time to help folks beat the summer heat, reports local media outlet The Burn.

The beloved national favorite will allow the storefront at 11922 Democracy Drive to continue its history of serving burgers to the community. The 2,800 square foot space housed The Counter until that establishment shut its doors in August of 2024 after 15 years of serving the area.

Shake Shack does not have an official opening date scheduled for the Reston eatery yet, however the eatery projects that it will be ready to serve customers in June.

Shake Shack debuted as a simple hotdog cart in New York in 2001. In the intervening 21 years, the concept grew from a cart, to a restaurant, to a chain, to a global phenomenon. The brand now has over 400 worldwide locations, 262 of which are in the United States.
