Great news for DMV chicken lovers (though perhaps less so for the birds in question), hungry for the next big thing in fast-casual poultry. Slim Chickens, a newer entrant in the crowded market, is preparing to dip its feathers in the DMV dining scene, with not one but twelve new locations set to open over the coming years, reports Franchise Times.

Helmed by the Vigario Management Corp., the upcoming storefronts will be spread across the Greater Washington region, with targeted areas in Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware. While no precise addresses have yet been announced, Vigario’s first Slim Chickens is planned for Manassas, with a projected 2026 opening.

Of course opening 12 restaurants is a marathon and not a sprint; the remaining 11 locations will be developed over the next ten years.

Vigario, for its part, is prepared to hit the ground running. CEO Andy Cabral states: “The chicken segment is a very competitive space with lots of concepts, but we feel confident we made the right choice with Slim Chickens, which does so many things well. We’re excited to get going and see where we can take this brand here.”

Slim Chickens is in capable hands. Vigario is already well-versed in launching franchised locations, having several Dunkin’s and Baskin-Robbins stores in its portfolio.

Slim Chickens first crossed the road into diners’ hearts in Arkansas in 2003. Fueled by delicious, made-to-order meals, the brand now has more than 270 locations open and operational.
