Richmond residents looking for a hip cocktail experience will soon have a new favorite spot. The Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Authority shows that Smoke & Barrel, a new concept from three friends and business partners, has applied for a liquor license for 2329 West Main Street.
The speakeasy inspired bar and restaurant will be taking over the space that formerly housed Lady N’awlins. The license application states that the building will accommodate up to 100 guests. The project is the brainchild of Kevin Sheffield, Joe Hadad, and Jordan Noble. Noble and Hadad co-own the company Key Star Logic, while Sheffield brings a wealth of bartending experience certain to establish Smoke & Barrel as an unmissable cocktail hotspot.
The trio originally announced the project in June of 2023, with aspirations of opening in August. However, the timeline has not played out as intended. It is unclear when precisely the establishment will begin serving customers, however the building has been undergoing renovations.
Smoke & Barrel won’t be limited to cocktails and other libations. The business will have a kitchen and will serve hungry patrons a variety of delicious dishes. Sheffield tells Richmond Magazine “We want elevated, and we don’t want to be too bougie, and we don’t want to be bar food; we kind of want to be in between, where it’s approachable for everybody.”
