For a long time, fast-casual dining meant burgers, fries, and chicken nuggets. While the meals offered may have been satisfying, they were seldom healthy. Luckily for modern diners, the market has experienced an explosion of concepts that offer nutritious food made quickly and efficiently. South Block, one of the DMV-area’s favorite chains-has spent years ensuring locals can enjoy a nourishing and delectable meal without a long wait, and it is preparing to bring its delectable treats to Reston.

The eatery, which specializes in acai bowls, smoothies, and cold-pressed juices, will be setting up shop at 1835 Fountain Drive. South Block founder and CEO Amir Mostafavi kindly set a little time aside to tell What Now DC about the company’s enthusiasm for its new home, saying: “The Reston community has been on our radar for a number of years! We love Reston and always knew we would end up here with a South Block location one day. We’ve had many requests to be here over the years and have just been waiting for the right opportunity. With Whole Foods coming to the Spectrum shopping center, we felt like it was the perfect fit and a great spot to finally open a South Block in Reston!”

Construction is set to begin on the new storefront next week and Mostafavi says that while a precise opening date is not available yet and hinges on receiving all necessary permits, that he and his team are anticipating a fall opening.

Reston foodies with a passion for nutrition will be able to stop in for a bite at the new location from 8 am to 7 pm daily.

South Block has been a powerful presence in the DMV dining scene since its inception in 2011. The chain’s fresh food and great attitude has led to numerous storefronts; the Reston location will be South Block’s 21st spot.

The Reston community can look forward to being served by a team that is just as excited to feed them as visitors are to be fed. Mostafavi says: “We couldn’t be more excited to bring our good vibes, açai bowls, smoothies, and juices to this amazing community!”
