Work is underway on a new destination certain to delight DMV beer enthusiasts. Falls Church entrepreneur Arash Tafakor is in the process of transforming the Stratford Motor Lodge into a brand new concept called Stratford Gardens Restaurant-complete with a beer garden, reports the Washington Business Journal.

The 300 West Broad Street property consists of two buildings-one containing rooms and the other the former home of the La Caraquena restaurant. The Stratford Gardens project will be two-fold; the section containing rooms is being demolished, while the restaurant will be renovated.

Once completed, the restaurant will be able to serve up to 300 customers, with space for 200 inside, and outdoor accommodations for up to 100 visitors.

Tafakor received approval from the Falls Church planning commission in December of 2023. Work has now begun in earnest on the project, and local foodies can look forward to stopping in for a bite and a beer this fall.

Tafakor-who owns and operates a few local wine and beer shops-believes the Falls Church neighborhood provided a dream opportunity. He states: “Everyone knows the property. Everyone knows that lot. It’s a very visible, great location, so I thought of it as an incredible opportunity that I could not pass up.”

While The Stratford Gardens menu is not yet available, Tafakor explains that it will be an upscale and family-friendly dining experience.
