The tide is high for DMV taco fans, thanks to a popular DC fast-casual brand preparing to make its momentous Virginia entrance. Surfside Taco Stand is making strides towards opening its first Old Dominion state location in McLean, as evidenced by paperwork sure to inspire excitement in locals.

The “go-to gathering place for families and friends to relax over margaritas and tasty food” is setting up shop at 6218 Old Dominion Drive. Surfside will be sharing a building with popular fast-casual chain Sweetgreen, which is already open and serving customers.

Surfside has filed for a liquor license with the Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control Board, a move indicating an opening is in the not-too-distant future. What Now DC has reached out to ownership for further opening details.

Surfside has been a hot DMV commodity since opening its first location in DC in 2008. The chain’s inaugural Virginia location will be its fifth overall, joining spots in Tenleytown, Dupont Circle, the Wharf, and-further afield-Nantucket, Massachusetts.

Surfside will be bringing McLean diners a delicious selection of fresh favorites. A press release pertaining to the location offers this tantalizing peak of things to come: “The menu features tacos, quesadillas, enchiladas, and burritos named after iconic islands and coastal towns like Cozumel, Port Antonio, Malibu, and Martha’s Vineyard. Guests can enjoy frozen and tropical cocktails on tap — including margaritas and sangria — beneath a ceiling lined with vintage surfboards.”
