Life can be stressful, but the beach never is. While we can’t always bury our toes in the sand, a DC-based Mexican chain is working hard to provide McLean diners with the next best thing. Surfside is making its Virginia debut in the neighborhood and it’s bringing delicious food and beachy vibes along with it, reports local media outlet FFXNow.

The eatery will be bringing a very different energy to its upcoming 6220 Old Dominion Drive than its former tenant. The building, located in the Chesterbrook Shopping Center, previously housed a Truist bank. Surfside will be sharing the storefront with Sweetgreen, which is set to open in the future.

An opening timeline remains nebulous, but McLean diners shouldn’t grab their aloha shirts and surfboards just yet; the chain hasn’t filed construction permits, suggesting there is still a bit of a wait ahead.

Shopping center owner Federal Realty offered this insight as to what’s in store-and why it is well worth while for locals to exercise patience: “The menu features tacos, quesadillas, enchiladas, and burritos named after iconic islands and coastal towns like Cozumel, Port Antonio, Malibu, and Martha’s Vineyard. Guests can enjoy frozen and tropical cocktails on tap — including margaritas and sangria — beneath a ceiling lined with vintage surfboards.”
