A popular Virginia restaurant  is preparing to upgrade Falls Church’s Taco Tuesdays. Taco Zocalo is bringing its distinctive brand of high-quality and authentic Mexican cuisine to the region later this year.

The fan-favorite eatery will be opening at 6343 Columbia Pike this spring. Taco Zacolo’s founder and owner, Chef Basir Ahadi, spoke with What Now DC about bringing a fresh burst of flavor to the local dining scene. “Falls Church was a natural choice for Taco Zocalo due to its vibrant community, diverse culinary scene, and strategic location.” he states. “We were drawn to the area’s rich cultural tapestry and the opportunity to contribute our unique flavors to its culinary landscape. We served the area when we were running from our Taco Truck, and it was a favorable place for us.”

Ahadi believes the market is primed and ready for the establishment’s signature brand of superior Mexican food. He states: “Despite the challenges posed by recent times, we see a resurgence of interest in dining experiences that offer both quality and affordability. With our fresh approach to Mexican cuisine, we’re confident that we can meet the evolving tastes of the community.”

Taco Zacolo aims to provide Falls Church foodies with a genuine Mexican dining experience, without ever having to leave Virginia. Ahadi explains “At Taco Zocalo, we offer more than just a meal; we provide an immersive experience that celebrates the vibrant spirit of Mexico. From the moment you step through our doors, you’ll be greeted by the aroma of sizzling spices and the sounds of Latin music. Our menu features a tantalizing array of tacos, burritos, and other Mexican delights, organic in-house tortillas, crafted with the finest ingredients and authentic flavors.”

Falls Church residents can look forward to savoring Taco Zacolo’s array of dishes in late March or early April. Ahadi states that the restaurant is wrapping up permitting and construction on the location, adding “Our team is working tirelessly to ensure that every detail meets our exacting standards, from the layout of the dining area to the placement of our vibrant decor.”

Chef Ahadi offers guidance to diners uncertain of where to begin with the restaurant’s menu: “For newcomers to Taco Zocalo, I highly recommend starting with our signature tacos. Whether you prefer classic carne asada (steak)  or adventurous flavors like shrimp, tinga, or beef barbacoa, we make our hot sauces (habanero, pineapple, and verde)  and salsa. There’s something for everyone to enjoy.”

Taco Zocalo aims to be more than just Falls Church’s newest favorite Mexican restaurant. It hopes to become an essential piece of the fabric of the community. Ahadi sums up his mission: “Looking ahead, we’re excited to establish Taco Zocalo as a beloved fixture in the Falls Church community. We’re committed to fostering connections with residents and organizations, whether through community events, school events partnerships, or charitable initiatives. Our goal is not just to serve great food but to become an integral part of the fabric of Falls Church.”
