Tawle, a concept launched by the team behind Middle Eastern restaurant Maydan in DC, is slated to open in Clarendon, Arlington.
It has been previously reported that Tawle, a Middle Eastern eatery, will open in 2023 at 2832 Wilson Boulevard in Arlington, replacing the now-closed Iota Club. Arlington Now reported in April that Tawle, which is Arabic for “table,” will open in fall 2023 after its original opening date in the spring has been pushed back.
The new kebab-centric restaurant and rooftop bar will be part of the Crossing Clarendon Development, the Washingtonian reported last year. It will feature a somehow similar concept to Maydan, which is located at 1346 Florida Avenue NW.
Tawle will be operated by restaurateurs Mayu Horie, Omar Hagazi, and the owner of Compass Rose, Rose Previte.
The space in Arlington spans 4,000- square feet and it is set to offer a variety of grab-and-go, takeout, and delivery options.
The rooftop bar and the bar downstairs will be similar to the bar in Maydan, according to Previte, who told The Washingtonian that Tawle’s bars will serve “lots of Middle Eastern flavors, Arak [an anise-based distilled liquor], mint, and citrus, very fresh.”
