The owners of Bar Chinois will soon open their new venture, Bar Japonais, in the Logan Circle area at 1520 14th St NW, according to a recent article by Washingtonian.
A representative of Bar Chinois or Bar Japonais did not immediately return What Now Washington DC’s request for comment.
Washingtonian’s article describes Bar Japonais as a French-Japanese izakaya that is set to open early in 2024. The culinary visionaries behind this aim to create a menu that leans towards Japanese cuisine with a touch of French inspiration, mainly with French-inspired drink options, such as a mix of French wine (especially bubbles), sake, and cocktails. With a focus on smaller, shareable plates, the menu will consist of no more than 20 carefully curated offerings, such as sushi rolls, gyoza, and other izakaya staples. The official menu offerings are still ongoing and have yet to be finalized.
Dean Mosones, the co-owner of Bar Japonais, has partnered with Margaux Donati, whose resume boasts an array of bar-centric establishments. Drawing from her experience in the renowned French brasserie Le Diplomate, and the acclaimed Japanese sushi and yakitori spot Zeppelin, Donati brings a wealth of knowledge and a keen understanding of both French and Japanese culinary traditions to the partnership.
