In news that is certain to evoke bittersweet feelings in DC foodies, Jinya Ramen is preparing to wrap up its relatively brief tenure at the Parks at Walter Reed. While locals will doubtless mourn the restaurant’s closure, there is a silver lining. Sam Shoja and his Harvest Eats hospitality group aren’t letting the storefront sit vacant; they will be opening a second location of their concept Paraiso, a Mexican restaurant and taqueria certain to rouse area appetites, reports the Washington Business Journal.
Jinya will be serving its final bowl of ramen at 1155 Dahlia Street NW later this month. Unfortunately, it is not clear how long the storefront will be idle before Paraiso takes over. The Mexican eatery will need to do some redecorating before opening to the public, and a timeline is not presently available. What Now DC will provide updates as more information becomes available.
Foodies who are chomping at the bit to try Paraiso’s fare and simply cannot wait for one of the concept’s tacos or quesadillas can stop in for a meal at its existing 1101 Pennsylvania Avenue SE Unit 1 location. The website offers this glimpse as to what’s in store: “Inspired by the streets and home kitchens of Mexico, every dish brings comfort and tradition to the table. From tacos to vegetarian plates, there’s something for everyone. The vibe is warm, casual, and cozy — a great place to enjoy a laid-back meal with family or friends.”
