DC beef lovers, rejoice! Meat is making its way back to the menu in a District restaurant space that has sat vacant for over a year. The busy, prolific, and the popular hospitality heavy-hitters of Atlas Restaurant Group are opening The Ruxton-a celebrated American steakhouse concept-in the old home of Charlie Palmer, with an opening planned for 2027.
The 101 Constitution Avenue restaurant will be the fourth location for The Ruxton. The steakhouse will span 14,400-square-feet with seating for up to 250 visitors and three private dining rooms. Atlas Restaurant Group is ensuring a meal at The Ruxton is the epitome of class and comfort before guests even cross the threshold; valets will take the stress out of parking.
A press release provided to What Now DC explains that Atlas also has plans for the building’s rooftop: “Atlas will serve as the exclusive culinary partner for the building’s newly renovated rooftop event venue. The expansive terrace will feature 7,100 square feet of interior event space and an additional 11,900 square feet of outdoor entertaining areas, offering sweeping views of the U.S. Capitol, Union Station, and the Washington Monument. The rooftop will host private events, corporate gatherings, and special celebrations supported by Atlas’s culinary and hospitality teams.”
Atlas president and CEO Alexander Smith expresses enthusiasm for the new project, saying “101 Constitution Ave presents an incredible opportunity for us to create a special dining destination in such an iconic and historic DC space. We look forward to sharing more about our plans for The Ruxton DC in weeks to come and continuing to build our presence in Washington.”
DC foodies still have a bit of a wait before they can enjoy The Ruxton’s premium cuts of superior beef; the restaurant-sure to be worth the wait-has a projected opening of spring, 2027.
